Skatepark Meeting
Tuesday, May 7, 7:30 pm Russell Avenue Community Centre
1. City Council
meeting on
May 6 Due to the first two items on
the agenda the skatepark report was item three and
was not addressed until 10:30 pm. There was no time for a presentation or the
viewing of the video. Rondi Craig asked why the
residents (3 homes) which back onto the parking lot were not consulted about
the temporary park. After his question was report was sent back to staff for
comments. City Councillor, Carol Disher spoke about
the evening and the process.
The residents which back onto the Centre and the
parking lot will receive a copy of the report and a cover letter explaining the
process and requesting their feedback. A committee member volunteered to
distribute the letters. Kathy Huckla visited five
homes # 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 on Wednesday afternoon to gather their comments.
With comments from the residents staff will develop a new report. The report
will go to council on Monday, May 13. The video will be shown and committee
members will address City Council.
The committee also discussed other possible
locations for the temporary park. Lower level parking lot, school parking lots,
plaza parking lots and arena parking lots were all discussed. Lower level
parking lot currently has 100% of the parking lot permitted. theretfore it is not an option.
